Profil PT Syailendra Bumi Investama

SYAILENDRA BUMI INVESTAMA (Syailendra BI) is a social enterprise that is engaged in agricultural products and environmentally-friendly integrated livestock farming. Since its inception, Syailendra BI was designed as a holding company for spice farmers and essential oil refiners who wish to collaborate for international trade and the production of quality essential oils. Currently, there are hundreds of farmers/refiners/breeders from various villages throughout the archipelago who are members of the “Green Gold Association” a forum for business and member empowerment.

Since 2014, we have pioneered the cultivation of essential plants, especially spices & herbs. Then together with farmers/distillers, we produce essential oils from various spices and herbs that are characteristic of Indonesia's natural wealth. At the same time, we treat waste from refining essential oils to support sheep farming. And conversely, we process sheep waste to support agriculture, so that it becomes zero waste.

In 2018, we have routinely supplied essential oils to national exporters and the domestic aromatic industry. In 2020, we started exporting essential oils and spices directly to Europe & Singapore. And in 2021 we will begin to consider the added value and extra value aspects through the creation of the "DDistillers" & "Syailendra Nature" brands for collaboration in the production of downstream products made from natural ingredients with IKM/SME Agropreneurs.

Our Profile

DDistillers

SYAILENDRA BUMI INVESTAMA is an MSME social enterprise incorporated as a limited liability company which is engaged in environmentally friendly integrated agriculture and animal husbandry. We built a social enterprise with the background of our concern over the large number of unoccupied rural land, on the other hand, unemployment of farmers in the dry season is inevitable. It occurred to us how to make farmers productive throughout the season so that they have sustainable sources of livelihood that lead to the achievement of prosperity. Through simple research, we met the essential plant of citronella which is proven to be able to survive in all seasons and various land conditions, even in barren land. Through the entrance to the cultivation and refining of citronella essential oil, and of course a long process, we realize that Indonesia's natural potential is very rich in “green gold”, but on the other hand, farmers/refiners need “friends and joint business houses”. On this basis, the company brought together a network of farmers/distillers across the country to build a community called “Emas Hijau” and a joint brand with the name “DDistillers”.

DDistiller means Distiller's Artwork. This brand is designed to popularize the important role of refiners who are struggling to turn piles of tonnage plants into compact, pure, and rich plant essences. It is from the hands of the distillers that all the goodness of nature can be placed in a small bottle that has a high value. DDistillers document their best work as “nature in the bottle” that can be enjoyed to support your happiness, health and natural beauty. DDistillers as a source of raw materials are committed to supporting SMEs in the fields of health, beauty, natural perfume, aromatherapy, food & flavour, fragrance, and other aromaprenuers to get support for quality raw materials at friendly prices. Support is strengthened by capacity building programs for developing business and downstream products based on essential oils in an integrated manner. From the source for your success, for your success, because the success of SMEs is our happiness.

PT. SYAILENDRA BUMI INVESTAMA was initiated in 2014, and has official legality on May 30, 2018. Currently there are hundreds of essential oil refiners spread across the Indonesian archipelago and are members of the Emas Hijau Association. At first we were a bulk essential oil supplier for national exporting companies and the domestic aromatic industry. With consideration of increasing added value and extra value, in 2021 we will begin to spread our wings in the downstream industry in collaboration with MSMEs through DDistillers. All the goodness of Indonesia's nature that is mixed in DDistillers is an attraction for the world community who are increasingly aware of the back to nature lifestyle. Therefore, we also embrace the international market. Since the end of 2020 we have landed our products to Europe and Singapore. Exporting essential oils to foreign countries with the DDistillers brand is our dream, the farmers/refiners. From the wisdom of Indonesia's nature, to a happier world future.

Owner Profile

FOUNDER PROFILE

Getting to know Eliest Listiani, Owner & Director of PT. SYAILENDRA BUMI INVESTAMA

SYAILENDRA BUMI INVESTAMA was initiated in 2014 and was officially established by Eliest Listiani on May 30, 2018 as a limited liability company with a notarial deed from the Notary Deed Office Inawati, SH. Mkn. No. 17/2018. PT. SYAILENDRA BUMI INVESTAMA has an office located on Jl. Dahlia Raya No. 44 RT. 002 RW. 023 Wonorejo Village, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar, Central Java.
Eliest the owner of PT. Syailendra BI is a “wong ndeso”, born on November 15, 1979 to a poor farmer family in a remote village in Brebes, Central Java, Indonesia. Although the son of a poor farmer, since childhood he had big dreams of becoming a successful entrepreneur. Destiny turned out to be quite winding, he worked in an institution that was actually a non-profit, and not half-hearted, for 17 years working in the institution with joy and sorrow. She works at the SPEK-HAM Foundation (Women's Solidarity for Humanity & Human Rights), a humanitarian agency concerned with supporting women/poor communities in fighting for their basic needs and basic rights. He started his career as a volunteer/volunteer to serve as Director of the Foundation and Director of BUMY (Business-Owned Foundation). At the top position, Eliest decided to resign, because a very strong entrepreneurial calling became his dream. On the other hand, he feels calm, because he has carried out leadership cadre in his foundation.
Luckily for Eliest, when she served as Director at a non-profit organization, she had the right strength and moment to direct the programs that became her passion, namely rural economy for sustainable livelihoods for farmers (especially women farmers). So while he was galvanizing himself to work at the Foundation, he was actually investing in knowledge, values, and also business assets. The journey of life has forged him to become a tough Eliest like he is today.
In 2014 he saw a vast expanse of land stretched unproductively, as far as the eye could see was barren, arid, and burned. He once cried seeing the land in Brebes as his homeland, which was not managed optimally. On the other hand, the poverty condition of the hamlet is quite pathetic. Farmers can only cultivate their land in the rainy season. In the dry season, farmers are unemployed, looking for odd jobs to the city, and the condition of the community is far from access to development/lagging behind.
His heart was sad, crying, and moved at the same time. In the city, a large area of land is a very valuable economic potential and asset, while in his homeland, a large area of land is even stalled. Eliest and his team thought hard about what to do to help the people there, to be productive throughout the year (rainy and dry seasons). Long story short, based on simple research, it is known that an essential plant that can grow all year round, on dry land, even post-mining land, is lemongrass.
With all available resources, Eliest and his team trained the farmers there to process critical land into land ready for planting with manure/compost fertilizer treatment. Since planting the essential plant of citronella, people can use the land productively and earn income throughout the year. They were happy, Eliest and the team were also happy.
In 2016-2018, citronella essential oil became the prima donna, not many people were cultivating it. Prices also tend to always go up, almost touching 400 thousand/kg, because demand always goes up. It's like saying “Farmers haven't finished refining yet, POs from buyers can go down. It's so much fun, isn't it...???
However, the name of the business does indeed have many challenges. In early 2019, the price of citronella essential oil tended to fall even below the farmers' HPP (cost of goods produced), so Eliest and the team were confused, they had to think about how to sell these oils at a price above the HPP? On the other hand, they have to deal with the rise of synthetic essential oils from competitors. Until now, they are still looking for solutions and strategies so that they can still buy farmers' oil at a reasonable price.
Eliest and the team finally trained the farming families to make various toiletries and home care products such as bath soap, dish soap, floor cleaner, rubbing oil, shampoo, hand body, massage oil, etc. The next challenge is how to brand the product. They are used to selling bulk oil, don't bother with packaging, product licensing, promotions, digital marketing, etc. Now they have to be willing to learn about it all.
Eliest, who used to be more heated, with farmers in the fields, inevitably had to participate in exhibitions at home and abroad. He and his team are determined to carry out direct exports with farmers, and to produce downstream products based on essential oils so that farmers' products can be absorbed at a more stable price.
Because the social world of humanity is ingrained, Eliest invites the founders to agree to position their company as a "social enterprise". So they are committed to dedicating 51% of the company's net profit PT. SYAILENDRA BUMI INVESTAMA for "Prosperity People & Sustainable Environment" (Community Prosperity & Environmental Preservation) programs. *SyailendraMedia
